Good day to all health professionals and all health and human rights advocates online in this eHealth forum.

Medical Action Group (MAG) is a non-profit, non-government organization established in 1982 at the height of Marcos’ dictatorship. The main goal during that time was document and provide medical and healthcare services to the victims and survivors of the Martial Law regime.

Since its inception, the organization has evolved to promoting, upholding and protecting the health rights of people and human rights in adherence to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Part of the organization’s campaigns is to support the Cheaper Medicines Law, Social Health Insurance, Higher health budget and the like.

When Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) struck the central Philippines in November 8, 2013, MAG in support of its member-doctors and health professionals as well the international and local financial assistance, conducted series of medical missions, psychosocial support activities and relief distribution to the survivors of the island barangays of Tubabao, Manicani and Victory in the municipality of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. As of date, MAG’s intervention in the said areas is still ongoing.
