eHealth program now on the roll
Health and science authorities hope the eHealth Program would accelerate the use of information technology and help the government’s goal to attain Kalusugang Pangkalahatan (universal health care).
The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), which held an eHealth Forum yesterday at the SM Mall of Asia, SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, believe there will be benefits if the key health care processes can be computerized.
“’eHealth is a comprehensive program on how health information can be integrated for everyone,” Health Secretary Enrique Ona said.
One of the major outputs of the program is the setting up of the Philippine Health Information Exchange (PHIE).
This aims to “ensure that accurate and timely information is available in the point of service, health practitioners, and decision-makers for the effective and efficient provision of health services and program.”
He said “all health data coming in and out of the health service point will be stored at the data warehouse through various systems available at the health facilities.”
The forum also highlighted two new reporting systems which will be available at the end of the year – the Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition System, and the eHatid project.
