Dr. Susan Balingit of Sandiwaan shares:

“The advent of climate change has compelled us to address health-related issues and concerns that are in conformity with climate change mitigation. Diet as a concern, specially in areas which have been ravaged, or are being threatened by disasters, should be addressed using locally sourced food from resilient crops. Food packages should be evaluated as to their health values so as not to cause damage, no matter how inadvertent, to the victims of disasters and other natural calamities. As we advocate for the adption of lifestyle changes for health and wellness, we set guideposts that will enable or assist people in making the necessary choices or options.”

    Thank you Dr. Balingit!

What are your thoughts on this? :)

We couldn’t agree more to Dr. Susan! She’s been one of our allies, experts and valuable resource speaker at SARILAYA.

In fact what she said is already being attempted, tried and done in our communities and even in our efforts at the Yolanda-affected communities.

    Thanks so much Dr. Susan.

Thanks to Dr Balingit for articulating the relationship of climate change to health related issues. We hope we can discuss these relationships and issues in future econferences. We would like to thank those who participated in today’s online discussion and hope there will be more groups and individuals who can propose discussion topics for eHealth.ph. We thank Sarilaya for co-hosting this online conference and would still encourage inputs or comments on any of the threads even as we ‘informally’ close the moderate discussions. Thanks again and have a nice weekend everyone.
